In a landmark initiative to modernise education in Tamil Nadu, the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) has unveiled five state-of-the-art studios, including virtual reality (VR) and sound recording facilities, at the Perasiriyar Anbazhagan educational complex. These studios were inaugurated by the School Education Minister, Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, on Monday, February 5th.

Embracing Technology for Enhanced Learning

Recognising the shift in educational paradigms towards technology-enhanced learning, these studios have been established to visually enrich educational content for students. They will serve as pivotal resources in creating diverse content, ranging from competitive exam preparation, career guidance, to mental and physical health education. Additionally, the focus will be on child safety, cultural enrichment, teacher-student interactions, quiz competitions, and particularly, Spoken English.

A notable feature of these studios is their role in promoting student talent. Content created here will be broadcast on Kalvi TV and shared on YouTube, offering students flexible learning opportunities and providing educators with effective teaching tools. This initiative is not limited to local students; it aims to benefit learners across the globe who are engaged in Tamil-medium education.

Parental Guidance and Extended Reach

The SCERT’s vision extends to aiding parents in understanding and supporting their children’s educational journey. Expert-produced videos will offer valuable insights into child development and learning strategies.

Future Plans: Expanding Technological Reach

This development is a part of a broader scheme to technologically enhance education across the state. The project aims to benefit over 23 million students in nearly 59,000 schools. Following the successful implementation of high-tech labs in secondary schools, the department plans to introduce similar facilities in middle schools.
