With two Indian girls cracking the Mensa test back-to-back, it looks like Indian students now own the distinguished IQ test completely. Saanya Verma, an 11-year-old Indian origin girl in Britain, has scored the maximum possible scores in both the Mensa Tests (Cattell IIIB scale: 162 and Culture Fair scale: 142) which has put her squarely in the top 1 percentile across the globe.
A few days ago, it was Kashmea Wahi, another Indian origin girl in the UK who scored an equivalent 162.
Talking about Saanya, a Mensa spokesperson said, “I can confirm that Saanya is one of the youngest to achieve 162 in the supervised test as it can only be taken by people over the age of 10-and-ahalf.”
The young achiever is an avid reader and lists the Harry Potter and Hunger Games series among her favourites apart from,Winds of Change and The Alex Rider series.
When others children her age can’t think beyond playing their games and completing their homework, this young lass keeps herself busy robotics and electronics. And, if you think that’s all about her… be informed that Math and Cosmos attract her equally.
This is what her father, Sunil Verma, a banker by profession has to say about her, “Saanya has always surprised me with her questions and her reasoning skills have often put me in situations where I have felt overwhelmed. We are proud of her and are constantly challenged by her.”
Saanya's mother Sunita Pati Verma, an HR and Recruitment professional says, “It is a proud moment for us and I think it’s an equally proud moment for the community that has provided her with the support and encouragement to achieve these unique objectives.”
