According to a survey conducted by LocalCircles, a social networking site, as many as 81% of citizens want a regulatory body to monitor school fee hikes by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) as well as the state boards.

The respondents also want the said regulatory body to look into the quality of education and course material developed by the schools.

Echoing the ground reality, as many as 84%-87% of respondents said that a fee hike in school was a matter of great concern.

Upon questioning district administrations across the country it has been discovered that schools have not stopped fee hikes despite several notices being served to them. “According to some district magistrates, the fee hike issue cannot be addressed by the district administration and a policy change needs to be initiated to establish a regulator,” LocalCircles said in a statement on Monday.
