Charles Krohn, a 91-year-old English teacher, when transitioned to online teaching at his age, went viral immediately. The teacher from Minnesota, US, was hugely appreciated after his daughter Julia posted on FB about her nonagenarian father teaching online and “embracing virtual teaching like a BOSS.”

Mr Krohn was initially having difficulty like every other educator on the planet who had to switch to virtual mode from a physical classroom. Julia asked her father to come to her home in Houston, Texas where she helped him with the setup. It is here that she saw her father teaching ‘The Odyssey’ once again. She told Good Morning America, “Listening to and watching him teach Homer’s The Odyssey is a true gift. He’s been teaching it for decades, and yet he has the passion and excitement for the text as though it’s the first time.  These kids have no idea how lucky they are.”

Julia said she saw her father teach in front of her eyes some twenty years later again and it was a beautiful moment to see him quickly grasp everything about online teaching. This is when she took the picture and posted on her Facebook. The post has over 63,000 reactions and 28,000+ shares so far.

The post also attracted students of Mr Krohn, as old as 1960s’ batches. They poured out their hearts in the comments saying how wonderful a teacher he was, sharing how they remember him teaching them. Read some of the heart-touching messages here:

Myron Hebert: I remember him so fondly. His was my first class on my first day at UST (1980). He made Greek mythology and the Odyssey come to life. Those who had his class before told me I was in for a treat. They were right.

Dinorah Gonzalez: Professor Krohn was my UST English professor in Fall ‘92 and Spring ‘93. And right now he is my daughter’s UST English professor. Awesome.

Brianna Renee Tellez: My first professor at UST & it was such a blessing to have him for 2 semesters straight. He taught me so much & opened up a new world of literature. His passion and dedication were not unnoticed. I’ll never forget my experience w/ Krohn.
