It’s January 26, the Indian Republic Day!

So? What’s so special?

ScooNews asked city students, teachers, and some passers-by, the same question in a quest to know how well is the meaning of Republic Day understood by Indians.

We visited a school, asked teachers, talked to random people, we talked to street hawkers, we landed up in a special school… and what we heard surprised us!

For most students, Republic Day meant dance, patriotic songs, special prayers and flag hoisting. However, for specially challenged students, it meant… the Constitution. It meant two years, 18 months, 11 days of hard work behind Indian Constitution. Something more than just dance and music. The energy and hope they had for this country of ours shone bright on their faces. And that’s what impressed us!
