Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif has been supporting an NGO called Relief Projects India (RPI) in Tamil Nadu along with her mother, Suzanne Turquotte, for years now. Recently, she extended help to a school in Madurai that’s dedicated to the education of girls from low-income families.

This school currently needs 14 more classrooms, a teachers’ room, a computer lab, a science lab and a library.

On her social media, Katrina emphasised on right to education of every child and spoke about ways in which people can come forward to offer help toward this noble initiative. She posted a video talking about her mum’s new charity initiative and wrote:

“So proud to present to you all the school built from the ground up by my mom and her charity. Since 2015, Mountain View School in Madurai has actively been working to provide quality English medium education to lesser privileged children. They currently teach 200 students, have classrooms up to grade four and need to add 14 more. Let us do our bit so that more and more children can fulfil their dreams. Considering the tough times we are in, it is even more important to be there for one another.”

The project not just focuses on girl-education but also female infanticide, foeticide and women safety.

Katrina has been following up on the overall development of this school and actively promoting girl-child education along with her mother. In 2018, she told Deccan Chronicle, “I have the most wonderful example for taking up social causes. My mother, who is a teacher, has always been involved in different charitable causes.”

Many celebs from the industry and outside are now supporting her in this fundraiser programme.
