Today when everything is going digital, kids are more or less glued to screens and hardly read anything; they don’t even show interest in reading. In order to inculcate the habit of reading in kids, barber Courtney Holmes took the initiative of cutting the hair of kids in return for a read of a poem/story from them.

A father of two kids himself, Courtney Holmes took off from his job and invited kids of his locality in annual community event to give them free haircuts. While he gave them stylish haircuts, he made kids read. Creative, eh?!

He bumped into this unique and innovative idea to promote and contribute towards helping parents and kids being aware of education and reading.

The deal was the children get any stylish hair cut they want only when they read him one story/poem. The barber surely had made his own young-fan following with this gesture.

Isn’t it strange that today being so lost in the virtual world, there has come a special need to get innovative to make kids read!

ScooTalks believes we all need to start thinking this out-of-box!
