Bengal Teacher Climbs Tree To Get Better Internet Connectivity
Every morning, he climbs the tree and stations himself on a platform made of bamboo, gunny sacks and hay to get mobile signal for uninterrupted online class.
The dedication of an educator often might be underrated. The measures they take to ensure their students aren’t snatched from receiving knowledge are truly commendable! Let’s take this West Bengal’s teacher for example. Subrata Pati is a 35-year-old history teacher, who returned to his village Ahanda in the midst of lockdown.
But being 200 km away from his students in Kolkata hasn’t taken away his dedication to teach them. While his students are learning-from-home, Subrata is not exactly working-from-home. As he was grappling with poor network at his home, he decided to perch atop a nearby Neem tree to catch better signal so that his students can learn uninterrupted!
Subrata teaches at two institutions, namely Adamas University and RICE Education. Now, every morning, he climbs the tree and stations himself on a platform made of bamboo, gunny sacks and hay. Pati set up the platform with the help of his friends. He also carries food and water with him on days when he has to take 2 to 3 hour-long classes.
On his extraordinary efforts, he said, "I have temporarily shifted from my Kolkata residence to Ahanda, which is a part of the state's Jangalmahal area, to be with my family in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis. That done, I couldn't have shrugged off my responsibility as a teacher. The Internet network here is mostly patchy, so I had to look for a solution.”

His students and colleagues are all praises for his unwavering dedication and utmost honesty towards his profession. Buddhadeb Maity, his student at the RICE Education shared, "What he does for students is exemplary. I never miss his classes, nor do my friends. He takes time out to answer our queries too. Attendance for his classes is usually 90 per cent."
Chancellor of Adamas University said, "He has been very sincere of his work from the start. He is a shining example of how to surmount obstacles with hard work and willpower.”
We, at ScooNews, applaud his undeterred determination!
