Over 13,000 schools presented 11,92,961 candidates for the CBSE Class 12 examination, a list of the top-performing institutions is available here
There may be records missing for certain schools, but the data aggregator – Learning Point – is working on fixing those. Just in case you see a significant mismatch between your students versus that in the provided table drop the data scientists a note at updates@thelearningpoint.net.
Scores have been computed using the percentage score in all the five subjects, for students who registered for 5 subjects. Scores have been computed using English scores along with the best 4 scores in case the student had an additional subject.
The ranking of the schools is done on the median marks percentage.

The median is generally considered to be the best representative of the central location of the data. The more skewed the distribution, the greater the difference between the median and mean, and the greater emphasis should be placed on using the median as opposed to the mean.
When asked about the source and authenticity of the data, the Data Aggregators from the Learning Point shared with ScooNews, “This is official results data, from the tabulation released on school sites in some cases but from http://nic.in data in other cases. A few holes may be there with some missed records but it’s unlikely to be over 1-2% of the entire data.”
When we enquired about a few missing numbers on the total strength of a couple of schools, they added, “There are about 11,000 regular students whose results we don’t have for class 12 (this is out of almost 1.16 million) and chances are that these are some of the schools from where it is missing. That’s the 1-2% missing info that we have already mentioned with the data but we will try to fill up these gaps for sure. For the most part, apart from a few stray cases, we don’t think anyone will report any noticeable difference with our numbers.”
"Comparing schools in the south with schools in Delhi or Mumbai on grade 12, school averages is not a fair comparison. Most of these southern schools are stuck in the binary of commerce and sciences and don’t offer humanities subjects like Psychology, Political Science or Sociology as an option to their students. Schools like The Heritage schools have a significant portion of their students opting for humanities subjects. This leads to a drop in school averages as humanities are not as high scoring as science subjects. Our school mean averages is ranked 7th in the country but if we compare our averages only for science and commerce, then we would possibly be in the top 5." said Vishnu Karthik CEO, Xperiential Learning Systems.
