Being the voice of those who struggle to speak, Jatinder Arora, founder of PRAYAS, proved Barack Obama’s quote ‘a change is brought about because ordinary people do extraordinary things’ right.
In the year 1996, Jatinder Arora, with the will to provide proper care and attention to under-privileged and differently abled children, initiated PRAYAS, the first vocational institute for mentally challenged children in Rajasthan. Since then the school broadened its spectrum and now has four centres, catering to the needs of socially and economically deprived.
On 12 February 2016, the first death anniversary of Arora, all the integrated PRAYAS schools gathered to pay homage to its founder.
Host Pinkum Sharma, Project coordinator with PRAYAS, started it with a prayer service, followed by ardaas. Several students then came forward remembering their didi in their own special way; as some recited poems, other sang songs for her. Ujale ki ore by Armana, class 8, Varsha’s yaad aata hai vo school, Asif’s yaadein baaki hai abhi, etc, are a few special mentions.
