School life is a celebration. And to add-on to it are festivals. Uttam School for Girls, Ghaziabad celebrates all festivals in the most piquant way to foster the feeling of universal brotherhood and tolerance among its students.

The school had recently celebrated Gurupurab with great reverence. The day at Uttam School began with singing of beautiful hymns followed by a powerpoint presentation on the life and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev ji.

Gurupurab celebrations can’t really be complete without a ‘Langar.’ A grand Langar was organized in the school, wherein all the students had participated with great zest for both serving and eating.

The school had also invited the students of Seva Samarpan, a school for disadvantaged children, who enjoyed the day at Uttam School equally.

What was special about this event was the fact that the entire day was planned and executed by the students of Class X A. Not only did the students had fun in the process, but also learnt a lot about organizing and managing. The motive behind inviting Seva Samarpan was to let the students know how peaceful and satisfying it can be to help and serve those in need. It also helped in ingraining the idea of respecting without any discrimination between caste and creed.

Uttam School students beamed with energy as they participated with Seva Samarpan students. Their energy and love clearly showed in the way they helped with the meal, mingling and gelling with them.

We had a word with some of the students there. A group of them, Aaika, Vrinda and Gargi, wonderfully summarized it for us, “It’s a celebration here. And the celebration is a privilege for us. We feel so positive by the fact that we get an opportunity to serve our class mates, teachers and the underprivileged kids. It’s an honour and proud moment for each and every student of Uttam who is experiencing this sense of purity and gratitude. We are truly blessed that we are doing it every year with same zeal and enthusiasm.”
