Living for oneself and for one’s family is what everybody does, but what this man does is unheard of. This man, like any other man, is a common man of the country, yet does something that makes us salute him.
Living for oneself and for one’s family is what everybody does, but what this man does is unheard of. This man, like any other man, is a common man of the country, yet does something that makes us salute him. D. Prakash Rao, a chai-wallah by profession, besides preparing tea, runs a school, not for making money but for educating the underprivileged.
No big salary, no big income but a bigger determination to teach all is what keeps him going. Unlike other kids, Rao used to love studies as a kid but his father was against it. As per his father, education would lead him nowhere, hence coaxed him to work at the tea-stall. Crushing his dreams of education, he has been obeying his father, selling chai, since 1976.
Though he couldn’t fulfill his dream, he gives wings to the dream of many. His school that runs from Nursery to Class 3, today has 70 kids. He, however, doesn’t stop there. After Class 3, he gets them enrolled in government school. Apart from educating them, the philanthropist also makes sure that his students get healthy diet, providing them with a glass of milk and biscuits every day.
