The school, known for its Christmas celebrations, had a lot more to offer this year. Students, parents, teachers, principal … all on one platform … making merry, spreading love … living the spirit of Christmas!
When it’s time for Christmas, everyone dives in a jolly and festive mood. And that’s what we felt at Queen Mary’s, Christmas Carnival held on 19th December 2015. The festivities reflected on the faces of the students, teachers, and visiting parents as well as in the entire school. Beautifully decorated in the spirit of Christmas and New Year, every part of the school participated in the commemorations.
Fervor conspired with zeal to make the day a grand success and students, parents, teachers were seen participating in the activities of the day. There we gifts, there were prizes, there were rides, there were games, there was luck, there was dancing, there was friendship, there was respect for elders … It was all there at Queen Mary’s Christmas celebration.
We could experience the level of excitement in students as we talked to some of the students. Primary-level students, Diya Jain, said, “There are many new games and activities this year. We are loving it.” As one of her friends chipped in to say, “As always the food is amazing this year too, we love Christmas carnival here.”
Well, no, they were there just to enjoy, but some also were seen managing the stalls. And as the number of visitors and guests increased with every hour passing-by, they did seem tired, but never was their enthusiasm depleting, nor did they miss a chance to have fun.

Yet another group of students, Monalika, Harleen, Fatima, Nahid and Hibah, said that it was the DJ that had changed the entire experience of the carnival, “ … it was totally unexpected for all of us. We are blessed to receive such a great Principal, who is not merely a large lady, but also experiences what the students like and has bequeathed a big imprint on us. We actually love her, because it’s her hard work that today we are seeing such an awesome event.”
The parents do get to visit the school several times over the year, however, even the parents await this time of the year to be there. The school oozes a legacy which makes every parent associated with this school swell with pride. One of the many parents we had a word with said, “We are really enjoying ourselves as the school has made a nice arrangements in terms of games, food and activities. We are feeling great that our daughters are part of such a great legacy.”
Principal Ma’am, Ms. Ritu P. Soloman was also seen celebrating with the students. We had word with her and got to know what makes the carnival such a huge success. She says, “The main motto behind any successful event is to make your spectators happy, and this is what I believe in. With the efforts of teachers and staffs today’s event is definitely a hit. I am happy that everyone is enjoying themselves.”
