Schools have taken precautionary measures keeping in mind Delhi’s decrease in air quality post Diwali.

Currently, the air quality of the capital has oscillated between very poor and severe. Experts say the fine particulates can cause serious health concerns than PM10 or particles in the air with a diameter of less than 10 micrometres)

Ahead of Diwali, many schools are organizing campaigns and workshops to make students aware of the many hazards caused by firecrackers. Students are also being encouraged to celebrate green Diwali

Parallel to the grave air condition, Union Environment Minister Harsh Vardhan launched a manual on asthma detailing instructions for the school administrations in case of an emergency. However, an advisory is yet to be issued by the Directorate of Education (DoE) of Delhi.

"We are waiting for a direction from Graded Response Action Plan, after which an advisory will be issued to all government and private schools," added Sanjay Goel, DoE director.
