Education Minister Encourages Teachers To Upskill With UGC MOOCs

SWAYAM portal aspires to bridge the gap in the educational divide for both teachers and students. MOOCs (Massive Online Open Courses) is a vertical of SWAYAM. SWAYAM is developed cooperatively by MHRD (Ministry of Human Resource Development) and AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) with the help of Microsoft and is equipped for facilitating 2,000 courses. The platform offers free access to everyone and hosts courses from class 9 till post-graduation. It enables professors and faculty of centrally funded institutes like IITs, IIMs, IISERs, etc. to teach students.

Education Minister has recently reminded educators to take their ‘time at home to upskill with "Educational Administration Management and Leadership in School Management" course on UGC MOOCs.’ Dr. Pokhriyal thinks it’s a great opportunity to polish their supervising, evaluation and decentralisation skills. 

Educational Administration Management & Leadership in School Education comprises of some of the modules like:

• Concept and approach to education, administration, management and governance
• Theories of educational administration
• School Supervision: concepts and theories
• School standards and their evaluation
• Program evaluation
• Teacher management and development issues
• Issues related to the management of public institutions
