Indian education is said to be in an advanced stage of chronic illness. People claim that serious visionary thinking and political will is the only key to change the current situation. While education is our country has always been a stumbling block, Civil Supplies minister Paritala Sunitha has urged parents to send their five-year olds to schools as education is the sole medium which can lift them above poverty.
Sunitha emphasized the importance of education in the 'Badi Pilusthundi' programme at the Zilla Parishad School at Kuntimaddi village in Ramagiri mandal on Wednesday.
“Children should love studies and they should be encouraged to go to school. Moreover, they should be motivated to contribute to plant drives like these. We are hoping to plant 25000 trees in Ramagiri mandal itself and 5000 plants in the first phase,” she claimed. The civil supplies minister also said that she has spoken to Minster for Education Ganta Sreenivasa Rao to provide school uniforms and text books on the first day of the school.
Joint Collector B Lakshmikantham has also backed Sunitha stating that education is the only way by which the society can come out of darkness. He also claimed that tree plantation is crucial for defeating drought. “Every district should at least have trees in 33 per cent of the land, while in the district, the percentage of green cover is only 10 per cent and that explains why the district is very hot,” he said.
Among other guests in the programme were Sarpanch Nallappa, DFO Chandrasekhar, RDO Balanaik and Rajiv Vidhya Mission project officer Dasaradhi Ramaiah.
