In a rather encouraging move by the Maharashtra government, students with special needs studying in Classes 1st to 9th and 11th will also be given concessions like their counterparts in Classes 10th and 12th.

Along with this, the government now has also given the facility of availing writers of older age to students attempting boards in Classes 10th and 12th. This measure has been taken to make it easier for the Board examination students. However, to avail writers, students will have to seek prior permissions from the school.

Till now, students of Class 10th and 12th only were allowed special concessions. It is for the first time that the any education department of the state has provided the facility of older writers for students with special needs for the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and HSC (Higher Secondary Certificate) examinations.

With a sense of pride, education minister of the state, Vinod Tawde said, “The students with special needs should also be treated equally. They need help for progress in academics, which is why the state government has come out with this resolution, where not just SSC and HSC students with special needs are given revised concessions, but also students with special needs from classes 1 to 9 are to get benefits.”
