Faridabad schools threaten to expel students upon non payment of fees
In a move that smells of autocracy, Faridabad schools have issued missives to parents of 8 students upon non-payment of complete fees. While according to rules, any fee over and above the tuition fee is illegal, parents have rightfully refused to pay it and have received warning letters in return.
The top 2 schools of Faridabad have issued missives to parents warning of expelling their wards if additional fees were not paid. According to the rules, any demand by the school over and above the tuition fee is illegal if sought without an NOC from the education department of Haryana. So now when the parents of 6 minor children rightfully refused to pay the fees the schools have been prompt in shooting off warning letters.
This has rightly led to a city wide panic situation where parents are unable to grapple with the situation whether to pay the fees or not. Notably, some parents have approached the court and have obtained reprieve from paying the additional fees. However, these cases have been few and far between and the courts have not passed a general statement applicable to all schools.
Hence the need for all parent associations to either form a strong unity and ask for equity in treatment or be meted out the dictatorial treatment by schools as they deem fit.
The 2 schools that have fired off the warning letters are Modern Vidya Niketan Sr. Sec. School, which has sent letters to parents of 6 minor children and Grand Columbus International School, which has warned parents of 2 minor children.
