On a trip and getting bored? An aspiring author? Looking for a publisher?

Here’s a solution for all. But it’s in Grenoble, France right now. And with the way it’s functioning and winning hearts, we hope something of the likes reaches India soon.

So, well, a start-up based out of Grenoble, has launched Short Edition, a vending machine, which vends out printed stories. It works like an ATM machine, on which there’s been given choices of time-amount one has to spare, 1, 3 and 5 minutes. The machine prints out a story readable in the opted time. What adds on is the way it is printed … on narrow receipt paper, thus rendering it easy to hold, read and store while on the way.

And where do the stories come from?

Well, there’s a Short Edition community, which pours in efforts to write short stories, poems, prose, all fiction.

Hahaha! Funny … and all worth it. Who was the genius behind it?

Christophe Sibieude, co-founder at Short Edition, was out for some purpose with his colleagues when he had to loiter around a candy vending machine for a while. Could they have done something better than just eating snacks? Answer to the question was Short Edition vending machine.

“We said to ourselves that we could do the same thing with good quality popular literature to occupy these little unproductive moments,” says Christophe.

While the world goes digital, here’s a beautiful and the perfect blend of print and digital media the most clever ever way!
