Terna Orchids The International School, primary section, celebrated its first annual day, themed sands of time, recently at Terna hall, Nerul, which was presided over by Amarsinh Ramrao Deshmukh, one of the trustee members of Terna Group of Institutions.

All the students of primary section, well-prepared for the day and eagerly waiting for their chance, excitedly performed as it started with a classical dance seeking the blessings of lord Ganesha. Students of classes 1-4 together put up a brilliant show, which was a combination of skit and dance, showcasing the various stages of human life, correlating it beautifully to various seasons. Many others gave musical and hip hop, classical, contemporary, folk, etc dances performances.

It was a memorable evening and the show ended with a vote of thanks and the grand finale, which enthralled the chief guest, parents and others in the audience equally!

Radicon School, Ghaziabad, had on 27 February 2016 put together a smashing annual day, the first annual day in fact, Resplandor, to celebrate its baby steps into the field of education.

Unlocking the door of imagination and creativity and to motivate the tiny tots to come out of their comfort zone to unleash their talent, the first annual day celebration, themed Incredible India, saw students coming up with brilliant performances, showcasing cultural heritage of various states of our country.

Gracing the event were chief guests, assistance director basic Meerut Yogesh Sharma, SSP traffic Amar Singh, senior superintendent district jail Prakash Yadav and DGM Syndicate Bank AK Sharma. Starting with Saraswati Vandana, the entire ambience was then rocked by several splendid performances by the children, which elated not just the teachers and parents, but also the chief guests, which was followed by award ceremony.

The creative best of students come out clear with school functions, and when it involves tiny tots, it takes a whole new meaning. Gurukul The School, Ghaziabad organized a function for pre-nursery and nursery kids themed Bioscope, where the kids endeared all with their lovely performances.

The event was flagged off by the director of the school Sachin Vats, director admin Shikha Vats, director academics Prabha Verma and principal Rajni Johri.

The young’uns of the school set the audience’s feet tapping by their performance on the beats of the rhymes and then creating an emotional stir among them with the next. Decked up in green, another group of students gave a performance with a message on environmental conservation. The ramp walk was another impressive show as the kids depicted various hues from Punjab, Maharashtra, Gujarat, etc.

Dance and musical performances was followed by play emphasizing on the importance of ethics and values in life. To end the flow of performances, audience were served with a PowerPoint presentation on the timeline of the session 2015-16, which was then followed by the principal appreciating and congratulating the teachers and students for a successful year and addressing and thanking the parents.

Banyan Tree School, Jaipur celebrated the successful completion of session 2015-16 with Virasat, depicting India’s unity in diversity. There couldn’t have been more apt theme for the annual function as the school believes in an overall development in terms of spiritual, emotional and moral values in its students.

With the idea to imbibe the values from our ancestors to its students and yet be updated with the technological developments, the programme was designed with utmost care. It started with Ganesh Vandana, which provided a stimulating environment inculcating spiritual and moral values, followed by the school songs, I’ll be true. The next was a dance by young students based on family values, which was followed by an interesting theme-based dance on karele ki sagai, and many more.

Now that the theme was such, performances on India’s favourite patriotic songs couldn’t have been avoided. The students gave a smashing performance on the likes of Nanha munna rahi hoon, Maa tujhe salaam, Chi-chi karti aayi chiriya. A group of students amazed the audience with their fit and agile bodies as they showcased their Indian marshal arts and yoga skills.

Jayshree Periwal High School, Chitrakoot Jaipur, on 18 February celebrated its primary and pre-primary annual prize giving ceremony, which began with the mellifluous vocal and instrumental music, brought alive by JPites in Symphony.

It was an evening full of music, dance and drama wherein the students celebrated their annual day with great zeal. The show began with an enthralling performance by the school orchestra with JPites in Symphony presenting their amazing sense of rhythm, coordination, synchronization and melody. The musical interlude continued with soulful renditions by the school choir.

The fun-filled regalia began with dances commemorating social issues like saving animals, racial discrimination, non violence, etc. The presentation was a riot of flamboyant colours and costumes and had everyone's foot tapping.

The tiny toddlers of preparatory shared their learning with interesting information they had gathered while exploring materials. The cultural odyssey continued with the musical Mahabharata, depicting various snippets from the epic.

The dynamic and inimitable director of Jayshree Periwal Group of Schools, Jayshree Periwal, expressed her gratitude to the parents and stressed upon the Gandhian idealism and hoped the present generation would imbibe the values expounded by the Father of the Nation. She stressed on the overall development of the child and shared that apart from excellent academic performance, JPites have also excelled in co-curricular activities.

The evening came to an end with the national anthem under the open sky that was illuminated with colourful fireworks.

This was not one of those regular annual functions. What was experienced at Birla Auditorium Jaipur on Saturday had six months of hard work written all over it.

Celebrating their school’s 20th anniversary, the students of Disha, A Resource Center for Multiple Disabilities, Jaipur put up a sparkling adaptation of Rabindranath Tagore’s Tasher Desh, wowing their school chums, parents, educators and other people from the city.

Titled ‘Jokers in the Kingdom of Cards’, the play revolved around a prince with a deep desire to escape his royal destiny. In pursuance of it, he lands up on an authoritarian island where people blindly follow rules, who are ultimately invoked by the prince to follow their heart and mind, thus starting a revolution.

As the play unfolded, the audience sat spellbound. Some actors couldn’t walk, others couldn’t talk, yet they tried… and emerged winners. The audience went along, tapping their feet and clapping along with the children.

Bhavya’s father, Hemant Mishra, sat teary-eyed. It had been two years now that his daughter had been at Disha, and the outcome had been beyond expectation, he said. She can now perform onstage!

“What Disha is doing is wonderful; it provides an unexpected platform to special children,” said Arun Dhandhania, an elderly gentleman in the audience. “The teachers here are very dedicated to helping students perform well as all-rounders.”

It wasn’t just the audience that enjoyed the show, but also students from other, mainstream schools like MGD School, Jayshree Periwal High School, Sanskar School, etc. But it wasn’t just for fun that they were here, what the students learnt here is something that we need to advocate to the rest of the society too.

Kshitiz Khandelwal from Jayshree Periwal School, volunteering for a couple of weeks with Disha in the run-up to the show, said that it was ‘love and affection’ that he had learnt from these children, while Pooja Khandelwal, also a volunteer, said she had learnt the value of ‘acceptance in life’.

“It is not sympathy, what these children need is empathy,” Stuti Uppal and Jyotiraditya, wise beyond their years, tried to explain it better. “They too have abilities, some special ones, which we need to recognise and appreciate and help them develop it.”

And the special educators were delighted as they handed over the children to their parents after the show. None could hold their smiles. “Yes, these children are special and inspiring. It took us all six months to get to the stage, yet all these days not once did we see any sign of negligence or tiredness on their faces,” teacher Shail Gupta said emotionally. “What more can we ask for, we got a standing ovation….”

Needless to say, the show was a huge success with the audience giving a standing ovation to not just the students, but also the teachers whose hard work was clearly visible.

Earlier, the evening began with the lamp being lit by Disha chairperson Dr Ashok Panagariya, trustee chairperson Basantt Khaitan, Prof VS Vyas, Dr Sudhir Bhandari, Advisor PN Kavoori with Suniti Sharma, the principal of MGD Girls School, Krishna Bhati, the principal of MSMSV, Rama Dutt, the principal of Sanskar School, and Jayshree Periwal of the Jayshree Periwal group, etc, marking their eminent presence. The school founder and advisor PN Kavoori then thanked the special educators, foreign donors, council members, parents and donors for their support through the journey that began in 1995. This was followed by a school report card presentation, which talked about how the so-called disabled students had outperformed limits set by the world.

After the annual functions, it’s that time of the year when young talents of the school are praised and awarded for their efforts in varied fields. And so, encouraging the students for doing their best, Subodh Public School, Rambagh organized an annual award ceremony. The ceremony began in the school auditorium at 9.30am. The Chief Guest for the evening, ETV Rajasthan’s CEO, Jagdish Chandra Katil presented the awardees with their respective awards.

Awards were awarded in five categories which were as follows-

1.Senior Category: In this category, Subodh Ratan was awarded to Janpreet Singh, Harshit Singh, Tanya Varma, Mehul Garg and PriyaSharma for best in Academics, Subodh Kesari was awarded for best in sports to Parneeta Sharma and Subodh Rachnatmak was awarded to Prajwal Kushwaha for best in cultural activities.

2.Secondary Category: In this category, Subodh Saahas was awarded to Ashima Saini for best in sports, Subodh kalasheshtha was awarded to Swarnim Agarwal for best in cultural activities, Subodh Kushagra was felicitated to Udhav Grag for best in academics, Subodh Garv was presented to Shreya Kacholiya.

3.Middle Classes: In this category, Subodh Parangat was awarded to Mauli Sharma and Shreya Sharma for best all rounder, Subodh kalanikhar was awarded to Dushyant Pareek for best in cultural activities, Subodh Subudhi was felicitated to Anushruti Banerjee and Gourangi Kumawat for best in academics, Subodh Prakram was presented to Nandini Nagori and Varsha Yadav for best in sports.

4.Primary Category: In this category,  Subodh Udbhav for best all rounder was awarded to Deepender Kaur, Subodh Utsav for best in sports was awarded to Tanushree Natani, Subodh Utkarsh was awarded to Aditya Sharma  for best in academics, Subodh Utsarjan was awarded to Vidushi Sareen and Chavi Sharma for best in cultural activities.

5.Pre-Primary: In this category, Subodh Prerna for best all rounder was awarded to Sareeya Khan, Subodh Kaushal for best in sports was awarded to Ishpreet Kaur Makheeja, Subodh Kala Nikhar was awarded to Ranvijay Saveda for best in cultural activities, Subodh Medhavi was awarded to Urvashi Fufliya for best in academics

Nav Bharti Public School, Pitampura, celebrated its Annual Day on 5th December, 2015 under the esteemed patronage of its founder and former education minister Sh. Kulanand Bhartiya ji with a lot of enthusiasm and fervor. Much awaited for the entire year, Annual Day celebrations are the perfect platform for children to showcase their inherent abilities and talents through an array of captivating programmes.

Shri Laxman Singh Rathore, the Director General, India Meteorological Department, Govt. of India, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, Sh. Vikramjit Singh, IPS, DCP, Delhi was the guest of honor. The other dignitaries marking their eminent presence were Sh. Vinod Bacheti, Director, Delhi Paramedical Mgt. Institute; Sh. R.P. Ram, former Education Officer, Sh. K.P. Raizada, Former Deputy Director of Education, Sh. Ramesh Kandpal, Convenor, Anuvrat Nyas etc.

The programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the hon’ble Chief Guest, Sh. Laxman Singh Rathore escorted by the Principal, Sh. Sanjay Bhartiya and other dignitaries. It was followed by Ganesh Stuti invoking the blessings of Almighty.  The school orchestra drew an unceasing applause which had peppy songs with a blend of classical, conceptual and fusion music.

Welcoming the august gathering, the school Principal, Sh. Sanjay Bhartiya gave the synopsis of school’s progress. He highlighted the achievements, awards and accolades secured by the students through the annual report.
The school always organizes thematic and message oriented programme. Following suite, this year, the vibrant colorful theme-based Dance Drama – ‘Paryavaran – Hamari Dharohar’ was brought alive by the young Nav Bhartians  with scintillating dance performances on songs like ‘Awara Bhanwre’, Na kato Mujhe, Mera Desh Rangeela etc.  The young Nav Bhartians sensitized the audience to save and protect our environment. They urged them to become a custodian of the ‘Mother Earth’ because we have not inherited the Earth from our forefathers, we have borrowed it for our children.

The theme of middle and senior wings was Indian Cinema: 100 Eventful Years. The Nav Bhartians celebrated 100 years of Indian Cinema with sheer enthusiasm. They gave enticing and spell-binding performances on the melodies beginning from the era 1940s to recent years.
The school choir mesmerized the audience with their melodious song “Runners for Justice”.  The students of Primary Classes presented the school report which was a spell-binding performance of the young Nav Bhartians.

The meritorious students were felicitated for their scholastic and co-scholastic excellence.

The Chief Guest and other guests appreciated the efforts of students and staff members.

The programme culminated with the vote of thanks by Dr. Usha Mittal, Academic Supervisor of the school and it was followed by the National Anthem.

The parents and guardians were indeed beaming with pride for their children who gave flawless performances.

Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram was the proud host of the Annual Inter DPS Science Festival held on 4th December 2015 under the aegis of the DPS Society. It included various inter-school competitions. As many as 43 DPS schools across the nation actively participated in various activities in the diverse field of science.

And when you talk of DPS, you do expect something new and exciting to come be it any celebration. This year’s Science Festival was an energetic cocktail of science and art catalyzed by students.

The inaugural function commenced with the lighting of the lamp by Rear Admiral M.M. Chopra, Vice Chairman, DPS Society and Mrs. Renu Mital, Director, DPS Society. The Guest of Honour was Prof. Harish Chaudhary from IIT Delhi. The Chief Guest for the valedictory function was Mr. Pramod Grover, Vice Chairman, DPS R.K.Puram Managing Committee and Honorary Treasurer of the DPS Society. The judges for the various events were Dr. Geetu Gambhir, Prof. Debal Singharoy, Mr. Rajesh Tiwari, Mrs. Meenakshi Mishra, Mr. Karmanye Thadani and Mrs. Suman Sagar. Also present were the Principal, Dr. D.R.Saini; Vice Principals; Mrs. Shobha Mehta, Ms. Vanita Sehgal, Dr. Renu Nayar and Ms. Padma Srinivasan along with the coordinators of the event, Mr. J.S. Virdi, Head of Department of Physics and Mr. Prem Dhawan, Head of Department of Chemistry; and their team of teachers.

Flagging-off the day, a group of students presented a mesmerizing recitation of Ganesh Vandana and Sanskrit Shlokas. The Vice Principal, Mrs. Shobha Mehta welcomed the esteemed guests and students, highlighting the importance of teaching as well as learning science. The Guest of Honour, Prof.

Harish Chaudhary addressed the gathering talking about his experience in the field of Science and how a scientific temperament needs to be inculcated in students.

There were two online and four onsite competitions, which gave the students a chance not just to win prizes but also to explore beyond them. The online activities comprised Scientific Fun Game in which the students had to design and create a game to explain a basic principle of science. Another online activity, A Book of Ideas, was to let participants share ideas regarding nutritious food, volunteer and distribution programs in the effective management of school canteens.

The onsite events included “Sci-Quiz” which saw teams answering questions on ‘The Importance of Food Quality’ and ‘Safety in our lives’; “Science App – Fun With Chemicals” in which students were shown experimental setups and were asked questions on them; “JAM” (Just A Minute) which included topics such as natural calamities, food processing, natural resources and how to solve issues of illiteracy and poverty and “Creative Xpression” showcased topics like Chemistry in the Kitchen, Space Tourism and Nanotechnology through advertisements enacted by the students.

The valedictory function began with the felicitation of the guests. The Principal, Dr. D.R. Saini addressed the audience and welcomed the chief guest for the evening. Soon after, a kathak dance performance ‘Tarana’ enthralled the audience. A video was presented providing a glimpse of the events held during the day. The chief guest, Mr. Pramod Grover, rekindled his fond memories and association with DPS Schools and emphasized on the importance of interaction among students through such programmes.

The prize distribution ceremony was conducted by Mr. Grover, Dr. Saini, Mrs. Shobha Mehta, Ms. Vanita Sehgal and Ms. Padma Srinivasan. The winners of all the events were awarded certificates and trophies.

“JAM – Just A Minute” was won by DPS Rohini, while DPS Jalandhar came second and DPS Indirapuram came third. DPS Moradabad won the first prize in the “Science App – Fun With Chemicals”, followed by DPS Jalandhar and DPS Rohini in the second and third places respectively. “Sci-Quiz” was bagged by DPS R.K. Puram, the second position by DPS Dwarka while the third prize went to DPS Mathura Road. DPS Greater Noida secured the first position in “Creative Xpression”, DPS Gurgaon came second while DPS Rohini won third position. “Scientific Fun Games” was won by DPS Hyderabad followed by DPS Greater Noida and DPS Chandigarh in second and third position, respectively. DPS Vasant Kunj came first in “A Book of Ideas” while DPS Noida came second and DPS R.K. Puram third. The overall winner was DPS Rohini.

Vote of thanks was delivered by Vice Principal, Mrs. Shobha Mehta. Students uncovered their scientific abilities by exploring the various realms of the subject in the events. The Annual Inter-DPS Science Festival proved to be an enlightening and inspiring event for all its participants and spectators.

The Annual Function!

Anticipation, hard work, wait … it all reflected when Subodh Public School, Airport celebrated their annual function. The day at the school, located away from the hustle bustle of the city, displayed excellence, highlighting academic achievements of the school. Other than celebrating their success, the school had other ideas behind it and so called it SHUBHRANILIKA – Journey from Earth to Universe.

Zeal was in the air and we felt it as soon as we entered the school premises. The school lawns glowed with lights, yet shining brighter were the shining faces of students. It was made yet brighter with the lamp lighting by the chief guest, Shri Kuldeepji Ranka, IAS (Secretary and Commissioner, Agriculture and Horticulture, Rajasthan) as he was welcomed by Shri Sumer Singh ji Bothra (Hony. Secretary). Shri N R Khothari, President of S. S. Jain Subodh Siksha Samiti, addressed the audience and blessed with his kind words. This was followed by annual report reading by Principal Ma’am, Mrs. Kamaljeet Yadav.

And then comes the highlight of the most-anticipated day … prize distribution! Beaming faces were seen coming back from the stage as prizes were given away to meritorious and outperforming students by the guest of honor. Soon there was a moment of absolute silence as the names for this year’s Subodh Jewel, Pride and Crystal were to be announced. Teachers, parents and students went into a state exhilaration as Ayushi Sharma was called upon the stage for Subodh Jewel, Vaishnavi Vaishnav for Subodh Pride and Hemang Gautam for Subodh Crystal awards!

Award ceremony gave way to SHUBHRANILIKA, celebration of life, of our planet, of the beauty on our planet. The magic of the universe lies in the versatility, vividness and variedness; Earth happens to be the most beautiful of all planets … thanks to the life on this planet, where every life experiences diversity, shades, basically evolution. This journey of lives was depicted in the cultural performances through various dances and song presentations.

It was flagged off with a group of students performing a qawwali who took the stage along with their trainers. It surely was a proud moment for Mr Bhanu Rao, the school trumpet band trainer and Mr Shambhu Jain.

Mrs. Mamta Sharma had something worth pondering upon when she trained her students to perform on Sarva Bhavantu Sukhina, Sarva Santu Niramya, where the students appreciated their motherland and duties towards the country.

Tiny tots love to live in the world of imagination and fantasy, full of enthusiasm, hopes and dreams. Three teachers of the school got together to bring out the real energy of kids to the front; on the way, they brought out the child in them too! Students trained by Mrs. Bijal Kothari jumped to the tunes of Let’s Start Jump. And soon was the stage glittering with young stars as performers grooved to the tunes of Chand Tare Jeb Mein Hain, beautifully choreographed by Mrs. Sangeeta Mathur. Mrs. Preeti Rastogi aptly depicted children’s curiosity when she helped them prepare for Tell Me Why the Sky is Blue, the Fields are Green ….

Mrs. Samiksha Jain initiated some serious discussions through Khula Aasman, Beparwah Sama, wherein the performing students sent out a message saying how dearly our planet needs to be saved.
