As Indians, we look to our motherland as one of the prodigal nations of the world. We expect that our country will excel in each and every field known to mankind. So as Indians, why don’t we ask ourselves this very question, have we fallen prey to such narcissism and greed that we only see the benefits of ourselves? Why don’t we see that where the higher sections of the society are being uplifted day by day, the weaker are disappearing into the mist?

While talking about the progress of the nation, it is crucial to note that, each and every community should go hand in hand. So why do there exist barriers which separate our family? Why are there opportunities for some and not for others?

To balance this very injustice, our government was elected. And if not always, initiatives are taken by them to restore the harmony among our brethren.

Such an initiative has been taken up by Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, announcing the Higher Education Assistance Funds for those ill-fated children who never got the chance to show what they were really capable of. Providing opportunities for these young dreamers to study in prestigious IITs and IIMs, the MP Government has decided to take up the responsibility to educate these students with government funds.

As expressed in the words of CM, this initiative it to help strengthen the backbone of our country; the children, as he sat with them to teach them lessons himself, along with distributing textbooks, school bags and chocolates to them. Additionally, tri-cycles and wheelchairs were also distributed to physically disabled children to aid them in their daily labour.

Not only do these children deserve a fair chance at proving themselves, but a chance at happiness; something they seldom receive.
