14-year-old Arjun Santhosh recently made headlines for his unique protest where he swam 3 kilometers for 10 consecutive days to highlight the lack of a bridge in his village.

Santhosh’s protest has created waves not only in the backwaters that he swam in but also in the state administration as it got the authorities to sanction the bridge that should have been in place 2 decades ago besides attracting attention to the fact that the boy is a good swimmer.

He got a call from the Sports Authority of India requesting him to train with them. Laxmibai National College of Physical Education (LNCPE), in Thiruvananthapuram has invited the 14-year-old to join their academy.

"The boy seems to have good endurance, he certainly has untapped potential and SAI would like to adopt him," G. Kishore, principal of the institute said.

"He will join MV HSS, Kariavattom, and will begin training at the academy on Monday. The principal invited Arjun to academy after coming to know of the swimming agitation,” his father Santosh said.
