Government school teacher does India proud at the Congress of Clinical Epidemiology

Anju Soni, a government school chemistry lecturer represented India at the International Congress of Clinical Epidemiology at Iran. Soni’s research on “Swacch Vidyalaya” was so impressive that the delegates of Iran health ministry expressed their keenness to introduce it in their country too.

Anju Soni, a government school lecturer became the face of India at the International Congress of Clinical Epidemiology held at Ilam University of Medical Sciences, Iran. Soni represented India and the Swacch Vidyalya project at the congress held from April 27 to April 29.

The event was widely attended as about 350 delegates from different countries presented their research on different kinds of infections, their causes and prevention. The research work of Anju Soni on "Swacch Vidyalaya" was so impressive that the delegates of Iran health ministry expressed their keenness to introduce it in their country too.

Soni's project was titled "How Swachh Vidyala helped in the upliftment of student’s health and education". According to her research, Students have become healthier and more regular at school after the introduction of "Swacch Vidyalya project. Besides, the research also showed how teachers and students could contribute in keeping the campus and the classrooms clean.

Sharing her experience at the congress, Anju Soni, who is a chemistry lecturer at Jawahar Lal Nehru Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Jawahar Nagar, said, "It was an amazing experience to interact with delegates of different countries. They appreciated the idea of Swachh Vidyalaya which brings teachers and students on a common platform to make surroundings clean."

She said, "They were so impressed that they asked me to chair a full session on Swachh Vidyalaya. Moreover, delegates of the ministry of health, Iran asked for details as they are keen on introducing it in their educational institutions." Soni's books like "Teaching of Science", "Teaching of Biology", "Curriculum and School Management", have been recommended by government and private universities.
