Gurukul Student wins Heart at Yoga Championship Malaysia

Samarjeet Teotia from Gurukul School Ghaziabad has won hearts at Malaysia as he presented his artistic skills at the 24th Amateur World Yoga Sports Championship.

India topped the 24th Amateur World Yoga Sports Championship held at Malaysia during 18-20th December 2015.

Indian claimed the top spot with a score as high as 408 points with Malaysia following up with a score of 100 points. Vietnam followed in being the second runner-up with 87 points.

The event brought many proud moments to the youth of India as most of the events where India topped, the participants were in the school-age group.

In Yogasanas 8-12 years (girls), it was Riya Pal who took away the crown. In Yogasanas 12-18 years, among the boys, it was Vaibhav Wamanrao Shrirame who stood first, while among the girls it was Lovejot Kaur. Well, among the girls group for this age group, the Yogasanas was totally taken over by the Indian girls as Yekambaram Joshnavi and Kirti Insan from India tied for the second spot; for the third spot it were Sakshi Ganesh Mahale and Ashwath Ganashree tying up; standing fourth was India’s Preeti, while at number five was Swapnil Insan.

Samarjeet Teotia, a student of Class 10th Gurukul School, was probably the star of the event as he won hearts with his artistic presentation of Yoga. He took the top place in Artistic Single Junior below 18 (boys), while Vaibhav Wamanrao Shrirame took the second position. P. Sundar Raju and Manoj R. took third and fourth positions, respectively.

Samarjeet Teotia and Preeti together wowed the audience with their beautiful Yoga-dance performance under Artistic Pair Junior below 18 competition, where India’s Vaibhav Wamanrao Shrirame and Ashwath Ganashree took the 3rd position, Neha D.R. and Riya Pal took 4th, Manoj R. and Yekambaram Joshnavi too stood on 4th pedestal. Sukhaman Preet Kaur and Lovejot Kaur came inching close at 5th position.

Indian students shone in Yoga Dance Pair Junior below 18 too with Swapnil Insan and Sukhaman Preet Kaur taking the top prize, Yekambaram Joshnavi and Neha D.R. were at number 3.
