The 2020 Coronavirus pandemic gravely influenced almost all the sectors worldwide, however, the education sector received one of the bigger hits. While a lot of trade and production came to a halt, the heroic teachers worldwide decided to bring the entire classroom to their home and made extra efforts to train themselves on conducting online classes, something a majority of them had never done before.

It isn’t only the schools that got affected, but other related businesses like the Ed-Tech corporate world witnessed similar consequences.

ScooNews carried a survey asking exactly how and to what extent the COVID-19 outbreak and the resulting lockdown has affected teachers and Ed-Tech experts. The answers that we’ve received over a period of two weeks have been converted into statistics for a better understanding.

The numbers are shocking. For example, almost 83% of schools admitted to providing training to their teachers on how to conduct online classes. On the other hand, about 90% of businesses in the education sector are estimating their revenues to go down the drain by the end of this year.

Conclusion

The report clearly marks most of the vertical professions being affected. Majority of answers point towards loss and set back in the field, and it has only been four months since the beginning. A pandemic has a lasting effect that takes months, if not years, to heal. Undoubtedly, the kind of destruction COVID-19 is descending in its wake is a huge one.
