Hrithik Roshan to play Anand Kumar, the famed mathematician behind the well-known IIT training programme Super 30

Bollywood's love for biopics is well-known and we have seen a lot of biopics on sportspersons hitting the screen in recent times. It is heartening to note that an educator will be showcased in a biopic featuring a star as huge as Hrithik Roshan.

Hrithik Roshan is going to play Anand Kumar, the famed mathematician from Patna. The film will be directed by Vikas Bahl, according to a report published in the Mumbai Mirror.

Anand Kumar is the founder of the popular Super 30 programme in Patna that grooms IIT aspirants from underprivileged backgrounds. The report states that the movie which is tentatively titled Super 30 will trace Anand's rise to fame as the founder of the Super 30 programme. He is also a columnist for various national and international mathematical journals and magazines.

The Super 30 programme was started in Patna, Bihar in 2002, and coaches economically backward students for IIT-JEE, the entrance examination for admission into Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). By 2016, 366 out of the 420 students trained by Anand had made it to IITs and the Discovery Channel has showcased Anand's work in a documentary. He has been invited by the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Harvard University to speak on his globally acclaimed effort to mentor students from underprivileged sections for admission to IITs.

The ‘magic moment’ came in 2008, when an astonishing 30 out of 30 cleared the IIT-JEE. Super 30 had hit the bull’s eye. It was ‘a dream come true’ for Anand and his team. Super 30 did it again in 2009 and 2010. All 30 students from Super 30 have qualified with good marks for JEE Advanced 2017.
