Kranti is an NGO that empowers girls from Mumbai’s red-light areas to become agents of social change. Here girls get therapy every week and learn about art, dance, and other types of therapy.

After Ashwini learned all these things, she started volunteering to help other kids. Her favorite activity is volunteering at Tata Memorial Hospital, where she brings art activities for children who are waiting for cancer treatment. Together they do art projects that help the kids to express their fears, their problems, their hopes, etc.

This experience convinced her that she should be an art therapist. She applied for a programme in art therapy at NYU and got admission and a scholarship to study, but the scholarship does not cover room and board, which is on average about 25% of the total expenses. This is where Humans of Bombay and Kranti stepped in to help her get these funds through Ketto. The campaign successfully collected Rs. 11,53,510 from 483 supporters and has ensured that Ashwini, a girl from Mumbai's Kamathipura area will get world class education.

ScooNews commends the work being done by Humans of Bombay and Kranti.
