Senior IAS officer Manoj Ahuja has been appointed as the CBSE chairman, replacing IAS officer Anita Karwal. Karwal was appointed as the Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Human Resource Development, in April last week. The change came as a part of a major bureaucratic reshuffle by the Centre on May 12th.
Ahuja is a 1990 batch IAS officer of Odisha cadre civil servant, who at present is Special Director of Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie. A statement from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, Ministry of Personnel, said: “Ahuja has been appointed in the rank and pay of Additional Secretary to Government of India by temporarily upgrading the post.”
Ahuja will immediately be dealing with the pending 29 CBSE board exams for classes 10 and 12, followed by board exam results after successful paper evaluation.
