The second edition of UK India Social Innovation Challenge 2018 is being organized by Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, in collaboration with the University Of Southampton and British Council.

It aims at finding, funding and supporting innovative and sustainable solutions for managing the ever-growing problem of waste management. Students with a plan, design, project or a startup in the waste management domain are invited. Students from UK and India, from any university, any year and discipline can participate individually or as a team.

According to Prof R Nagarajan, Alumni Community Chair Professor, IIT Madras, “Waste management is a great example of a need that a social entrepreneur can fill best. Voluntary efforts can only go so far. I’m delighted to see IIT CSIE enter into this partnership. I’m sure some viable solutions will be forthcoming. Equally importantly, these youngsters will be getting exposure to various facets of social enterprise,”
