Jaipur’s Yathansh Kulshrestha cracks Google Code-in
Yathansh Kulshrestha, a class 11 student from Jayshree Periwal School, Jaipur has media following him around as he becomes the first from Rajasthan and among a few Indians to have won the Google Code-in Contest 2015.
Yathansh Kulshrestha, a class 11 student from Jayshree Periwal International School, Jaipur now has the distinction of media following him with his becoming the first Rajasthani in seven years to win the Google Code-in Contest 2015. The contest aims to add value to open source development by involving young talent from pre-university level.
Kulshreshtha proved his mettle on the world scale by being one among the winners of the Google Code-in contest for the year 2015 beating as many as 2700 students of computer science from 98 countries. He has now been invited to Google headquarters in Mountain view, California, USA to receive the award. Glad at his achievement, he told the media, “I have always dreamt about it. It would be an inspirational trip to the Google headquarters.”
The participants had to do various tasks ranging from writing or refactoring codes, documentation, training, outreaching, researching, maintaining quality for user interface enhancement, analysis of problems and recommendation of appropriate solutions. The 49 day-long contest began on 7 December 2015, ending on 25 January 2016, the result of which was declared on 8 February, 2016.
Talking about the tasks he had performed, he said, “I had completed 40 tasks in 49 days. The tasks included making Android applications, web applications, designing homepages for websites and finding functional errors. Juggling time between the long duration of the contest and preparations for class 11 exams was really a big challenge for me.”
