A government school teacher from the Jashpur district in Chhatisgarh is currently under suspension and may lose his job too depending on the results of the inquiry instituted against him. The teacher had allegedly asked students to give him a body massage during lunch break. The case came to light when a video showing the students massaging the head, back and feet of the teacher in the staff room went viral on social media.

The actual incident is probably 20 days old as is evident by the date of the video, however, the matter caught widespread attention only after it went viral. The available information shows that Anup Minj the English teacher of Tumla High School located at Farsabahar region in Jashpur asked the students to give him a massage in the presence of other teachers in the staff room but no one objected. The video leaked from, shows three students massaging the teacher who is lying on the floor at a relatively crowded room.

According to Jashpur SP GS Jaiswal, the matter hadn’t been reported to the police yet and considering the sensitivity of the issue the district education officer should have immediately lodged an FIR.

On the other hand, Jashpur district education officer SN Panda said that a probe has been ordered into the case and action has been taken against the teacher. "The teacher has been suspended with immediate effect and the decision regarding lodging of an FIR would be taken on Tuesday."

The teacher has issued a statement saying that he wasn’t feeling well that day so he had requested the students to massage him.
