Kerala SSLC, DHSE Exams to Start From 26 May 

Kerala Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC), Department of Higher Secondary Education (DHSE) +1,+2 exams are to begin on 26 May 2020. The exams will continue for the next 5 days, that is 30 May 2020. 

The CM of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan, has informed that the government is taking all the necessary steps and provisions regarding the exams to be conducted in a healthy and safe manner. 

Below are the safety measures that are being taken for both students and the teachers, which are also the issued guidelines that need to be followed during the exams.

1. Students crossing state borders have been asked for self-imposed 14-day quarantine, there will be special arrangements made so they can all attempt the Board exams.
2. Containment zone students or whose family members are under home quarantine would get separate seating arrangements in the exam hall.
3. Every teacher would need to wear both masks & gloves. Also, every student will be provided with masks to be worn.
4. Kerala government is in the process of acquiring 5,000+ IR thermometers and would be conducting a thermal screening for students attempting the exam.
5. As many as 10,920 students applied for exam centre change as they have left the centres for their homes, the government has made arrangements for the Board question papers to be distributed accordingly.
6. The students would also be provided with transportation facilities to reach the SSLC, SSC Board exam centres.
7. Post exam, the answer sheets would be kept in the exam centres for 7 days & the fire force would disinfect the schools, after which they would be displaced from there.

As for the students, who would not be able to appear for the exams, the minister stated that students can appear in the Save a Year (SAY) exams which would be conducted later. SAY Exams are conducted for students who cannot pass the public examinations, but this year, due to special circumstances, all such students would be considered as regular should they decide not to appear for the May exams and chose to appear in SAY exams.

Kerala Education Minister Prof. C Raveendranath also told ANI, "The Education Department is making all arrangements to bring schools back to normalcy. Schools are being sanitized with the help of local bodies, people's representatives, and the Parent Teachers Association. It will be completed in two days. Fire force will conduct disinfection in all schools."
