In a first, the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) announced that students who have appeared and passed the SSC, (standard X) supplementary exam recently will be able to secure temporary admissions into first year junior college (FYJC) based on their online marksheets itself and not wait for the hardcopy of the results.

The results for the supplementary exams have just been declared last Tuesday and the state education department has already made this announcement. The announcement also directed the colleges to confirm the provisional admissions after verification of the hard copies of marksheet.

Secretary of the state education department Nand Kumar explained the reasoning behind the expedited admissions. He said that this year the supplementary exams were held in July instead of October so that the students can be integrated with this year’s batch itself and not waste a year. All the regional directorates too have been instructed to conduct fresh rounds of admissions to accommodate students who have passed the exam.

"In order to hasten the process, we have asked the admission committee to accept a printout of the online result and allot admission based on the online document. However, it will be the responsibility of the colleges to cross verify the mark sheet of such students once they receive the hard copy. If any discrepancies are found in the online version and hard copy of mark sheet, admission of such students would be cancelled," the notification states.

All the students who will carry the marksheets printed from the result declared online need to self-attest it before submitting it for the admission round.

Assistant director of education Meenakshi Raut said that a fresh admission timetable for the grade X supplementary exam passouts was being currently formed and would be announced in 2 days time.

She said that the process of preparing the new timetable depended on the seat collation process which happens after a previous round of admission. She said that there were almost 15,000 seats available for admissions under the fresh round.
