Mamta Banerjee’s scheme KANYASHREE acknowledge by UNICEF

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her government's pioneering scheme Kanyashree has been widely ackowledged by UNICEF. Kanyashree is a scheme that is aimed at reducing school dropouts and early marriage trends among girls.

The dropout among girls in secondary level has reduced from 23.06 per cent in 2012-13 to 19.79 per cent in 2015-16, Banerjee said on Facebook.

"UNICEF has also applauded the state for our interventions in education sector to ensure almost 100 per cent enrolment in primary education," she said adding, "our children are our future."
