The Varkey Foundation today announced the top 50 finalists for Global Teacher Prize 2018. Pradeep Negi from India is one of them. Koen Timmers of Belgium features in the list for the second consecutive year. Three Australian and four British teachers have also been named in the top 50 finalists for the Global Teacher Prize for 2018.

The US $1 million Global Teacher Prize is now in its fourth edition. The Prize recognises one exceptional teacher who has made an outstanding contribution to the teaching profession as well as to shine a spotlight on the important role teachers play in society.

Pradeep Negi uses a wheelchair after having childhood polio. Despite his disability he is determined and ambitious and wants to inspire other disabled children.

He found the traditional teaching process very difficult – using a blackboard and standing for a long time caused him problems. Now ICT has given him powerful tools for teaching. He frequently uses the internet and online web resources to make economics and social science more interesting.
