With everything going digital, schools too are shifting facilities online, with admission being one of the processes that schools are gradually trying to make easier. Of late, many schools have begun accepting online admission forms to facilitate admissions for parents who are situated afar. The latest to join the league is Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's Rajaji Vidyashram, Chennai. No more standing in queues for the aspirants of Bhavan’s!

Ajeeth Prasad Jain, senior principal, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's Rajaji Vidyashram, said that going online seemed like a better way of dealing with long-distance requests as the school receives queries and admission requests from NRI parents too.

The school has reportedly received several applications from Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Vietnam, the UAE, Israel, UK and US. Jain further informed, “Applications are not just from those living abroad, but even families that are on vacation and are unable to come to school”.

They are not the first. DAV Public School in Velachery went online two years ago to simplify the admission procedure for parents. This is what principal Minoo Agarwal had to say, “There were long queues earlier and we thought we could make it simpler this way. Many requests come from those who are travelling and we have also got enquiries from places like Dubai.”

However, the old methodology remains. Parents who do not have access to online forms can still fill and submit the forms in person or post them too.
