The Delhi nursery admission process for the academic session 2019-20 is set to commence from December 15. It’ll cover around 1,600 private schools. However, the government will be imposing an upper age limit bar this year. According to Delhi government’s Directorate of Education (DoE), the online application process is scheduled to be closed by January 7, 2019.
The upper age limit has been set as follows:
-
less than four years for nursery
-
less than five years for kindergarten
-
less than six years for admission to Class 1
Last year, the proposal for an upper age limit was challenged in court. It was followed by an order from the Delhi High Court allowing the imposition of the upper age limit; although, the DoE had decided that the order will be applicable only from 2019 academic session.
Some important dates are:
-
Release of marks of the selected candidates – February 4
-
Release of the second list – February 21
-
Nursery admission process will conclude – March 31.
The good news follows for the economically weaker sections/disadvantaged groups (EWS/DG) as twenty-five per cent seats in pre-school, pre-primary and Class 1 will be reserved for them.
The schools have also been given autonomy to come up with their points system. And the DoE has instructed all private schools to upload their criteria (with points for each criterion) on the official website, for admission in open seats, by December 14, 2018.
