Welcoming sunny days amidst winters in Jaipur, Jayshree Periwal International School celebrated Olympics. Errr… don’t get us wrong, it was the school celebrating its annual sports day, calling it “Olympics at School”, on 10 February 2016. Ace shooter and Olympian, Shagun Chaudhary was the guest of honour. Welcoming her was Dr Jayshree Periwal, the director of Jayshree Periwal Group of Schools, along with directors Ayush Periwal and Aakriti Periwal. Dr Periwal, a sports enthusiast and an exemplary sportsperson, encouraged the students by expressing that it isn’t the victory that counts, what matters more is participation.

Shagun Chaudhary, impressed with the performances of students at various athletic activities, said that she had never come across students this enthusiastic. Taking it forward from Dr Periwal, she too encouraged the students saying that one must not be afraid of doing something out of the ordinary. Olympics at School began with the marching contingents, followed by flag hoisting and lighting of the torch, and then the meet was declared open.

The races were the most exciting part of the day and the crowd spurred the participants to give it their all. The races were followed by prize distribution. Students enthusiastically collected their prizes as the audience cheered on. Scores of houses were announced and the winning house was also declared.

As the day came to an end, parents appreciated the efforts that the school was taking to create well-rounded individuals and providing a holistic education that is so essential in today’s fast-paced world.
