Well, Directorate of Education had hoped to start the new year on a rather positive note. However, that wasn’t supposed to be. Rather, there in fact are questions on the authorities on their latest measure of making admissions easy for economically weaker section (EWS) parents.

For the rising questions, there are some genuine reasons, which might be leaving some students’ nursery admissions in a tussle.

Day 1 of school admission for economically weaker section and the already exasperated parents are already there all the more. Exasperated and feeling frustrated. Some schools had passed on the information to parents that the admission information and forms will be made available online, however, the page went down leaving the ill-informed parents quite harassed. And since information takes its own sweet time to spread across in this segment, large number of parents had to reach schools to check for the admission, creating a situation of confusion among all. Parents ultimately came down to saying that they’d still prefer the offline system of admission over such confusions.

Many parents, having visited cyber cafes several times over the day, still didn’t know what the school admission forms looked like.

And then they are also finding it difficult to fulfill all the formalities on the online form, thus needing further paid-assistance at the cyber cafes. This meant some additional financial pressure on the parents to belong to economically weaker section.

In many incidents, even the principals were clueless, for example, the principal ma’am of the junior wing of The Shri Ram School, Ms. Tania Joshi, said that there were some parents who had visited the school to check if they had to submit any documents. However, the school authorities had no clue where the documents were to be submitted.
