For years parents have been attending ‘Open Day’ at school with trepidation and anxiety in part due to the impending report card of their child. They are sometimes worried about their ward’s future. The time has come for parents to start viewing another report card – that of the school their child is attending. Unified- District Information System for Education (U-DISE) has made available all recently issued report cards for private and government schools for the year 2015-16 on the internet.
Parents can access report cards on Central government’s website www.schoolreportcards.in. It is an open access report allowing any parent to view the report cards of any school by typing in details like State, district and mandal.
These report cards are a compilation of factual information on infrastructure, staff, number of students and their enrolments in different classes, information on children with special needs (CWSN) enrolments, information on libraries, computer labs and toilets etc. The report cards are comprehensive too and cover almost 100 facts of each school.
The parent can also view the teacher’s directory, which lists necessary teacher information. TS Sarva Sikhsha Abhiyan (SSA) Inclusive Education officer of Hyderabad district P Urmila Devi said that the information provided is very important for parents to know about the school in which their child are studying.
“Parents can evaluate and decide about the school, whether they want to continue the child or look for another school, basing on the report card,” she said. The state has 42,632 schools with as many as 67, 56,130 students studying in them.
