It is rightly said that it is the disadvantaged who need the best teachers. And though the latter may be few, there is simply no denying that the quality is exceptional! These outstanding individuals have taken learning out of the classrooms of privilege, to those that need it most yet all too rarely receive it. They fight – the battle is far from over – tremendous odds to execute their mission. The sweet spoils of war? Engaged hearts, enlightened minds, and more often than not, well-nourished tummies!
Here’s saluting Sixteen of the country’s best and bravest teacher warriors, striving to give kids a fighting chance at a better present and a future floating with possibilities. #TeacherWarriors 2017
The first edition of the Scoonews Global Educators Fest 2017 is marked by many ‘firsts’ and that’s why it has earned the interest of the who’s who from the field of education. It is notable that the seed of many of these ideas were sown months in advance during our regular editorial brainstorms.
One such gem of an idea was to identify unsung education heroes in our June issue. Within no time, the editorial team collated a list of 100 such people. With a great deal of effort we pared down the list to 16. A few days later, as I held the June issue in my hand, I had a niggling question which wouldn’t leave me for days. It was whether we were doing enough for these 16 teacher warriors?
The answer came in the form of an idea to take the “Teacher Warriors” concept out of the pages of the June cover story and turning it into an annual affair where we identify such Teacher Warriors every year and felicitate them, enabling them to rack up popularity for their cause and network with like minded individuals.
I am proud to announce that we will launch the Teacher Warriors 2017 concept nationally at the Scoonews Global Educators Fest 2017 to be held on 18th of August at Hotel Hyatt Regency, Gurugram, New Delhi-NCR.
