Purkal Youth Development Society seeks your help in getting this little girl healed and back to school
Purkal Youth Development Society (PYDS) assured them of financial help but Riya, in the meantime showed no signs of improvement. PYDS team then consulted a few other doctors in the city, who said that it is beyond their ability to treat this child. They opined that the child may not survive at all.
As the fate would have it, Riya (name changed) a sweet little girl aged 8, fell prey to her family’s economic circumstances. She went home smiling from School, who knew, she would suffer severe burn injuries due to a kerosene lamp that would fall on her accidentally. She was immediately rushed to a hospital in critical condition.
Riya's father is a driver and the mother a homemaker. The family is from an economically weak background and had no idea about paying the hospital’s hefty bills.
Purkal Youth Development Society (PYDS) assured them of financial help but Riya, in the meantime showed no signs of improvement. PYDS team then consulted a few other doctors in the city, who said that it is beyond their ability to treat this child. They opined that the child may not survive at all.
Fortunately a generous doctor called Dr Yogi took this case as a challenge. Riya was then shifted to his hospital. Dr Yogi also generously waived off his personal fee.
Riya have had two successful major surgeries since then. In a fortunate turn of events, she is now out of danger.
It’s been one month that she is in hospital. It is still not known when she will come back home. She has faced a lot at this young age, however, she is a fighter and she will come back smiling again as she went home on 8th April 2017.
PYDS has spent over Rs. 2 lakhs on her treatment so far. The overall expenditure is estimated to be about Rs. 4.5 Lakhs.
Post her discharge from hospital, PYDS will also make arrangements for her stay at PYDS School. She will be provided a good diet and favorable conditions for her quick recovery.
The expenditure is insignificant compared to Riya’s life but for a small Society like PYDS, financially it means a lot. They depend entirely on charity.
