Education is taking big strides in India today. It is evident by the host of new government regulations or the thousands of NGOs and individuals working in their personal capacity to improve the lot of underprivileged children in getting quality education.
However, a celebrity putting in their weight behind a social cause gives it a boost and makes it relatively easier for the cause to at least get registered and continuing doing the good work. The latest in the line of celebrities who is working towards uplifting the lives of underprivileged children is the very ravishing Raveena Tandon, who has joined hands with P&G Shiksha to change the lives of children in Delhi and the National Capital Region.
Till date, P&G's flagship Corporate Social Responsibility programme P&G Shiksha has built and supported over 450 schools impacting the lives of over 8,00,000 underprivileged children. P&G Shiksha believes in the motto 'Padhega India, Badhega India'.
Now in its 12th year of operations, P&G Shiksha has launched Shiksha Superheroes, a campaign to acknowledge consumers, the real-life superheroes who make it possible by making a simple brand choice of buying P&G products and contribute to the cause
Joining the movement this year, Raveena donned the avatar of a Shiksha Superhero for the students of P&G Shiksha School in Delhi where she emphasised the importance of education in the lives of children.
The actress had a very interesting interaction session where she shared her school memories with the children and in turn was very impressed with their confidence, intelligence and exuberance.
"This is my first year of partnering with P&G Shiksha, and it felt amazing to interact with these kids who are really talented and have a bright future ahead of them," Raveena said.
"I firmly believe that education is a basic right of every child and it is heartening to see a campaign like P&G Shiksha enabling education for underprivileged children and helping them realise their dreams, and providing them a better standard of living," said the actress.
In Delhi-NCR itself, P&G Shiksha has built and supported about 4 schools and impacted more than 535 children.
Raveena Tandon is the latest luminary in the line of illustrious personalities like Anupam Kher, John Abraham, Abhay Deol, Farah Khan, Arbaaz Khan, Sameera Reddy, Huma Qureshi, Sushmita Sen, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Sharmila Tagore and others who have supported P&G Shiksha in the past.
