Recent NSS education survey report shows AP and Telengana at the bottom of the list
Recent data released by NSS shows the terrible state of education in Telengana and Andhra Pradesh. The report also pointed out to contributing factors like literacy rate, dropped out school students, and other behind its poor education condition.
National Sample Survey (NSS) has recently released data that shows the terrible state of education in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The report also took pains to get to the bottom of the problem and pointed out flaws of the state education, along with key areas like literacy rate, dropped out school students, and other behind its poor education condition.
Here are a few of the points from the survey:
1. The literacy rate in the two states is second lowest in the country after Bihar and lower than all India average of 69 %.
2. In Andhra Pradesh the percentage of dropped out school students is 58.9 while 67.2 in Telangana. Most of the dropped out students are from farmers' families/families involved in agriculture.
3. As per the report, the figure for the number of students per thousand who are pursuing professional/technical courses, is among the lowest in AP (34) and Telangana (30), compared to states like Maharashtra (86), Kerala (156) and Punjab (100). However, number of students per thousand studying engineering is the highest in AP (579) and Telangana (599).
4. Students preferred to study in private institutions as they offered a more conducive learning environment than the government counterpart in addition to it being really difficult to secure an admission in Government institutions
5. There were some parameters where both the states performed well. AP is among the top 5 states which can boast of 335 out of thousand students having internet connections, with Telangana (185) standing at fourth position. It is also ranks first in the number of students per thousand pursuing technical courses.
