For the students of the school, 26th January was more than learning about the country. Following the trend, it was all full of dance performances, songs and plays.
67th Republic Day of the nation was celebrated with full exuberance and patriotism at Gurukul-The School, Ghaziabad.
The event began with lamp lightening by the head of Gurukul family, Director of the school, Mr. Sachin Vats, Director Admin Mrs. Shikha Vats, Director academics, Mrs. Prabha Verma and Principal Mrs. Rajni Johri.
The principal, Mrs. Rajni Johri, taking over the stage talked about the glorious past of the nation. She said that the best way to teach children about history of one’s country is by creatively involving them, entertaining them and making them relate each teaching at the school to daily activities.

Performing on a number coming from the days of DD Network, ‘School Chale Hum’, students related the beautiful story of childhood. Some social stigmas, like that of pollution was addressed through a power-point presentation. Making the audience tap their foot on the Rajasthani song was a ghoomar dance performance where the girls decked-up in vibrant lehengas danced gracefully.
Apart from talking about the environmental issues, the students did a nukkad natak to promote cleanliness in the country, hence doing their part of being good citizens.
There were other performances as well … some based on ‘Make in India’, some talking of healthy food habits in kids. Overall, their celebration of Republic Day was not only about being patriotic but much beyond it.
