Hardly a tribal school in West Midnapore had a hope to receive funds for the improvement of its infrastructure, but one door closed after the another; but the school principal did not lose hope and won at last.
Uttam Mohanty, the school principal told 'I urged a lot of people for funds but at one point I got frustrated and searched the internet for options.'
'I learned how to approach the Rajya Sabha MP's for funds. I got Sachin's address and wrote a letter to him and provided all the documents along with it.' he added.
Indian Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar came forward after being convinced, to extend a helping hand towards the tribal children. He donated Rs. 76 lakh, on the request of the staff of 'Swarnamoyee Sasmal Siksha Niketan', for the improvement of the tribal school's infrastructure.

Now, the construction of a library, a laboratory and a common room for girls are being constructed with the money they received under the Member of Parliament Local Area Development scheme.
School principal Uttam Mohanty expressed gratitude and has decided to invite Tendulkar for the inaugural ceremony of the new facilities.
Ishita Singh, a student of the school, on behalf of all the students said, 'This will help us to study in a better way. We are all very happy about it'.
'We really hope to see Sachin in our school in the near future,' she added.
