SAM school to host international colloquium.

The Sri Atmananda Memorial (SAM) School at Malakkara, near Aranmula, will host a 3-day discussion on ‘Teacher-Student Relationship in Education’ from August 4 to 6, according to Tarla Nanavati, SAM school principal.

The event will be inaugurated on Thursday by Chandra Montgomery Nicol, the executive director of Clonlara School in Ann Arbor in Michigan, which is the oldest operating K-12 free school in the United States.

Ms Nicol has got 48 years of enriching experience in the field of alternative education and is the daughter of Pat Montgomery, a renowned advocate of alternative education.
SAM School offers the Clonlara US high school diploma among one of the streams and is treated by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to the Plus Two credential for admission to Indian universities.

Pascal LeClercq, the director of the National Institute of Arts and Crafts attached to the French Ministry of Culture in Paris is set to deliver the valedictory speech on Saturday.

Expert interaction

The colloquium will provide a platform to eminent educationists from India and abroad to interact with the alumni and teachers of the school and explore the importance of a strong teacher-student relationship in education, Ms. Nanavati said.

The Atma Vidya Educational Foundation (India), Organisation for Atma Vidya Educational Foundation (USA) and Association pour le Soutien a AVEF (France), are the co-sponsors.
