Saves Classmate’s Life; Gets Suspended!

What he got back was not what he deserved. All that he did was helping a classmate … all that he received back was punishment. For helping?!

He was suspended from school for helping his classmate!

Does that happen for real? Well, it just did!

Antony Ruelas, 15, an 8th grader at Gateway Middle School, Killeen, Texas, saw his classmate having troubles breathing, but no one helped her. As her condition worsened, he picked her up and rushed to the school nurse without the teacher’s permission.

And that’s what forced the school to suspend him, leaving the classroom, rushing off to the nurse, without the teacher’s permission.

When asked, Anthony says, “I broke rules. But she needed help. Like, she needed help.”

The teacher, however, has reported that Antony used rough and abusive language too. While filing a report of the incident and emergency on a school form, she wrote, “During 5th period another student complained that she couldn’t breathe and was having an asthma attack. As I waited for a response from the nurse the student fell out of her chair to the floor. Anthony proceeded to go over and pick her up, saying ‘f*** that, we ain’t got time to wait for no email from the nurse.’ He walks out of class and carries the other student to the nurse.”

Antony’s mother, however, sounded reasonable, when contacted, saying, “I don’t … think he should have used that language. But as far as getting suspended for walking out of class, he could have saved her life.”

The proud mom also says, “He is a hero to me.”

The student whom he had helped has also extended a note of thanks to him.
