Just when we thought we've seen enough talent around the world, we're offered some more. Such is the story of a girl who studied in over 6 countries and is a spectrum of plethoric talents and experiences that belies her age.

Shreya Ganapathy Kamath, 16, with proficiency in academics, is also keenly interested in the arts. "I am very interested in art. When I was five, I participated in a drawing competition, 'Face of God', conducted by the Ugandan national daily, The New Vision. I won a prize for my picture of Lord Ganesh. I was then inspired to focus on art, along with my studies," she said.

Shreya imbibed her mother's passion in drawing and painting. "I am now capable of using my own imagination and my own efforts in my art works. I draw inspiration from paintings on various websites, books, art exhibitions, etc. I then try to sketch and reproduce them in my own style. I now try to sketch and paint using my ideas. We need to encourage children to be creative and cultivate their interest in art and painting," she added.

She opined further "Each work of art is an expression of the artist's personality. Attitude is what distinguishes one artist from the other."

A philatelist and numismatist, Shreya is also a trained dancer in ballet and Indian forms. She strongly clings to the notion that every child is capable of achieving remarkable feats.

Despite learning Kannada formally only after she joined Holy Rosary English Medium School last year, Shreya passed with flying colours, scoring 99 out of 100 in Kannada in the 2016 SSLC examinations.

Her father, Ganapathi Kamath works with SAARC development fund's economic and infrastructure windows as a chartered accountant. Shreya's tryst with schools spread across the globe was a consequence of her father's previous employment(s) with various multinational organisations overseas. Her mother Shubha G, who is currently a homemaker , was a lecturer earlier.

"Although I have studied abroad, I will work only for India. Once I complete my education, I will settle down in India. Staying away from home has taught me the value of my country," said Shreya,  who is proud of her Indian identity. She may be heading to Bhutan next year.

As a result of her hard work and exploration of her potentials, Shreya is the recipient of numerous awards in competitions conducted by newspapers, Indian and African associations in Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda.
