What can kids do is gradually going beyond our imaginations … the kids these days seem more concerned about the way we are destroying our earth. They in fact are more capable of fighting it!
Ask us why?
Shrusti Nerkar, age 12, is our answer. This student of class 6th, Rachna Vidyalaya, Nashik, has proved that kids can touch heights! She has developed a household shower system that would help save as much as 80% of water. When an average person is estimated to be using 80ltrs of water each shower, here’s a new shower devised out which would bring it down to 15ltrs.
This 12-year-old girl took inspiration from something that we come across very regularly and developed something extraordinary that would help in saving water. While on a visit to a car-care center along with her dad, Shrusti overheard them talking and was stuck on “we will wash the car in 2ltrs of water” as said by one of the representatives at the center. This made the girl ponder over his words, leaving her curious. She asked them how would they do it and got to know that they use some special sprinklers, which gave her the idea that household showers could too use these sprinklers and thus save lots of water.
She shared the idea with her family and her father provided all the support he could. She made a few attempts and failed. Never losing out her spirit, she persuaded her idea and worked hard for it. And then finally she was able to develop what she had aspired to … in her fifth attempt.
Now that she has finally developed a device that could help save almost 80% of water on a daily basis, she has also applied for a patent for this innovative invention.
A patent in her name … at age 12; weren’t we too busy with Mickey Mouse and Goofy at that age?
Congratulations to her family and school Rachna Vidyalaya
